Literary
translation
M.A.,
TAMIL second year - fourth
semester.
Aim - 'Translated books have profoundly shaped our cultural
perspective over the past half century' - Jon Parrish Peede, Awaiting News at the Dock.
Literature is a
mirror of the social and cultural relationships within a people, a society and
a culture. When works of literature are translated from a foreign language, the
recipients in the new language are enabled to achieve insight into the social
and cultural conditions of that people or nation. And because dialogue between cultures requires channels,
literature is also a highly important tool in that dialogue. If one wishes to
get to know a culture, two options are available: either one learns the
language, or one reads the literature in translation. Of course, language
teaching is subject to limitations, simply because there are so many languages
that it's impossible to learn them all; so translation will continue to be the
most important channel of communication between cultures.
Related the Comparative Literature paper we introduced
Translation Literature to the M.A., second year student for their fourth

Tamil Internet
M.A., Tamil second year -Third semester
Aim - Introduction of computer use and web application to students.
We introduce
the Tamil internet paper for PG Tamil students. Students in institutions of
higher learning should take advantage of information available on the Internet
in their coursework. The Internet is also utilized for social and other
non-academic functions. Hence, it is desirable, for students to strike a
balance in the time spent online for academic and non-academic purposes. The number of Internet
users is growing explosively worldwide, with 44.8% Internet users coming from
Asia alone. In Tamil nadu , Internet
users have increased very rapidly too.
Advances in
computer technology have enabled the Internet to serve as a platform not merely
to seek information, but also to exchange ideas and knowledge with other users,
and obtain expert opinions via email, teleconferencing, chatting and other
avenues. Nevertheless, the advent of social network sites such as Facebook,
Twitter, Linkedin and others that include chatting and online games have
changed the perception on Internet use from one that is associated with
learning to that of a socializing facility. Such website applications have
resulted in the Internet being used for both academic and non-academic
activities. Several studies have been conducted to identify the use of Internet
among youth and students in institutions of higher education.
Benefits - Students with a degree in Tamil Internet
knowledge are highly prized by employers
and typically pursue a wide variety of careers around the world.
